The Fading Year
A poem to share
Inspired by Beth Kempton Soul Circle prompt this week.
The Fading Year
Rise to contrast skies of
sharp charcoal silhouettes touching
soft lilac edges of clouds.
Shake off who I played, or
pretended not to be behind
closed lids.
Striking from scenes, familiar faces appear
then fade with
the message they carry.
Imagination entangles the real
and the not,
waking hours blurred within
the same wonder.
Who is me and
who am I
when all I am not falls away?
